Imerovigli is situated on a 480m height, the highest point of Santorini. It can be reached - after a small diversion - on the road between Fira and Oia, just 2 km from the island's capital.
The word Imerovigli means day-guard, as during Venetian times, it was the observation post of Marcus Sanouthos. Today, the remains of this venetian castle named "Skaros" are saved. Following the path from Skaros you will reach the church of Theoskepasti, built at the edge of a rock with a stunning view of the volcano and the Caldera Gulf.
Imerovigli is the ideal place to stay as it is very close to Fira town with all modern comforts, but still offering calm and relax with a breathtaking view.

In addition, the staff recommened two restaurants in Fira and Oia, we really enjoyed it. We didn't rent a car but the location is quite good - Really close to the bus station. The brekfast was okay but needs to be improved regarding menu selection. Swimming pool is smaller than website picture but we enjoyed it with beautiful view. However, the only worst part is the guest room. The bed is really uncomfortable with bad mattress. The room smells really bad so everytime when we came back from outside, we needed to open the door or turned on the air conditioner for about 20minutes. There was no curtain on the shower so everywhere the water was floating. The room was not clean at all. We could see the hair everywhere and dust. The room was really bad and dirty. I didn't stay at other hotel in SanTorini so i can't really compare but standard room with over 100 euro, i could have stayed way better room in other cities in europe... The room definitely needs to be renovated. But since we only slept there and most of the time we were outside enjoying santorini, i might come back for this hotel just because of nice staff and excellent view with swimming pool. | 4 |

Can't say enough about good things about the staff from Matilda who waited up until nearly 1am to welcome us on our arrival and put the heating on in our room as it had gotten chilli that night. The lovely lady on reception the next morning (apologies I cannot remember the name) who spent a long time with us explaining where to go and the best and cheapest ways to get around. Even our charming chambermaid would come back after doing the rest of the rooms when we had put up the do not disturb sign to give us fresh towels and take the rubbish away always with a smile and friendly hello. The rooms are fine basic and clean the bathrooms could do with being updated and it looks as if they are in the middle of renovations, but they are certainly usable and clean. But the special quality about this hotel is definitely its staff and the view, trust me you won't be spending much of your time in your room when there is such stunning scenery! | 5 |
